Speaking at the award ceremony, Deputy General Director of the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) Ngo Minh Hien commented that the first award has created a great resonance, bringing a meaningful message to the community and society about protection. environment, protect the ocean from reducing plastic waste.

Following that success, the press award "Reducing ocean plastic pollution 2022" continues to be organized to contribute to the sustainable development of the marine economy, in which the goal is "Prevention, control and reduction" significantly pollute the marine environment, pioneering in the region in reducing ocean plastic waste”.

Chief Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Vietnam emphasized: “We all share the responsibility in responding to marine pollution. We need to think globally and act locally. If the plastic product cannot be reused, we should refuse it. Small changes in everyday life make a big impact.”

In 2022, the Press Prize brought together 312 works by 70 authors from 19 provinces and cities across the country. Particularly for the photo contest, more than 7,500 works from more than 2,700 authors from countries in Southeast Asia were selected for the preliminary round. After the screening process, the Organizing Committee has chosen to award prizes to works with the most special stories about environmental issues, the hearts of the authors and the people in front of the waste problem.

Specifically, the works that won the press award "Reducing plastic pollution with the ocean" 2022 include:

1st prize was awarded to the reportage "The war" of plastic waste by the group of authors Do Thi Hoa - Pham Ngoc Phuc of VTV24, Vietnam Television.

2 second prizes are the works: "Resolving difficulties to develop the plastic recycling industry" by the group of authors Nguyen Thi Hanh - Pham Hong Manh of Tuoi Tre online newspaper; "Reducing ocean plastic pollution: From small actions to green aspirations" by Ho Minh Van of Binh Thuan newspaper.

3 Third prizes include: "Performing environmental responsibility to help businesses develop sustainably" by Nguyen Hong Quan - Nguyen Hong Nam of VTV News electronic newspaper; series of 2 articles "Changing behavior with waste in seas and oceans" by author group Ho Thanh Hieu - Nguyen Thanh Thang of Radio Voice of Vietnam electronic newspaper; series of articles "Ocean plastic pollution: Tears of the sea and our actions" by author Tran Thi Huong of Industry and Trade newspaper.

At the same time, the Organizing Committee also awarded 5 more consolation prizes and 2 extra prizes.

Second prize for "The Plastic sea grass" by Sirilert Phonsin from Thailand; Photo series of foreign tourists cleaning up trash after Typhoon Noru in Hoi An by Pham Dang Khiem.

The third prize includes the work "Dry Sea" by Hoang Ngan Hanh from Vietnam; the work "Fish or Plastic" by Huynh Thanh Huy; "Recycling" by Nguyen Trong Duong. In this category, 5 works won consolation prizes.
